Residents report policing, harassment and selective enforcement; council staff to follow up

Mark Rodriguez, speaking for his elderly parents and as a community civic-club president in Second Ward, raised concerns about selective enforcement by Public Works and Neighborhoods inspectors. He provided a list of addresses and said inspectors issued citations for his property while other nearby properties with visible code issues went unaddressed. Councilmember Castillo said he would pursue additional questions with the department and called for a review of training and citation practices.
Lawson Echera (identified in the transcript as Lawson Echera) requested assistance connecting with the city health department after he said he experienced health concerns he associated with “NASA tools”; staff agreed to refer him to the health department to explore possible contacts with federal agencies.
