At a special meeting Aug. 14, 2025, the Eastport-South Manor Central School District Board of Education approved a consent agenda that included creation of two athletics-related clubs, appointment of a district treasurer and dozens of coaching and supplemental-pay positions, signed agreements to purchase outdoor seating, and approved two construction change orders. The board then voted to adjourn into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
The board approved the minutes of the July 9 regular meeting and the July 9 reorganizational meeting, and then approved a consent agenda covering business and operations items 1–4 and personnel items N‑1 and N‑2. The board recorded the motions and voice votes as approved; individual roll-call tallies were not specified in the meeting record.
Assistant Superintendent (name not provided) described two new extracurricular programs that the board approved as part of the consent agenda. On Athletes for All, the assistant superintendent said, "Athletes for All is kind of like a, it's a section 11 run club that's sort of similar to, like our Unified Sports Program. So what it is, it's like a series of I think it's about 10 weeks over the course of the school year where students in some of our 8 1 ones and our 12 1 ones at the high school will go to other schools around the, county and they do different types of games and different kind of sports. It's not just a basketball league." The assistant superintendent said the program will be run by the athletic director with adapted physical education teachers and other advisors and will include travel to other schools in the county.
Describing the Life Club, the assistant superintendent said the program "has to do with our varsity athletes. And what they'll be doing is during their seasons, varsity teams will be meeting once a week after school before practice with an advisor who's following a Life Club type of curriculum that's provided for us." The assistant superintendent added the curriculum "teaches more of the whole child than just the athlete" and is designed to address adversity, self-worth and coping strategies. The board was told the Life Club will run in fall, winter and spring seasons, that it will meet weekly, and that coaches will participate; the assistant superintendent said participation is required for athletes on varsity teams.
As part of the consent agenda staff reported personnel actions and other business: the district signed a memorandum of agreement with the ESM Teachers Association; Ashore Macomba was appointed district treasurer; the district signed an agreement to purchase outdoor seating and other site furnishings; and two change orders for construction projects were approved. Personnel items presented included seven resignations, two per-diem substitute appointments, one civil-service appointment, two scholastic appointments, 23 coach and assistant-coach appointments, 29 supplemental-pay appointments, two club appointments, one student-teacher observation internship, one other employment appointment, and one recall of employment. The meeting record does not specify the names of all appointees beyond the treasurer.
There were no public comments at the meeting. After completing the consent agenda and personnel business, a board member moved to adjourn into executive session "for the purpose of personnel," and the motion carried by voice vote.
The board did not provide estimated costs, vendor names for the seating purchase in the public portion of the meeting, nor specific dollar amounts for the construction change orders in the discussion available on the record. The meeting record indicates these items were presented and approved under the consent agenda; details and formal contract documents were not read into the public record during this session.
Looking ahead, the board referred committee reports and policy items to future meetings; no dates for follow-up public reports on the clubs, construction change orders, or the personnel matters discussed in executive session were provided during the public portion of the meeting.
