The Milan Area Schools Board of Education on Aug. 13 voted unanimously on a series of routine and personnel items and later moved into a closed session for negotiation strategies.
The board opened the public meeting and approved the minutes from the special meeting of July 24, 2025, by a recorded vote of 7–0.
The board next approved bills and reimbursement of expenses, also by a 7–0 vote after trustees said questions about the check detail had been answered by Krista Hendricks.
During the personnel and leadership portion of the agenda, the board approved four teacher hires for the 2025–26 school year: Abigail Collins (ECSC teacher), Noah Penrose (eighth-grade math), Joshua Nowak (sixth-grade ELA) and Thomas Wall (first grade). Each hire was moved, seconded and approved on separate motions recorded 7–0.
Later in the meeting the board voted, 7–0, to enter a closed session "pursuant to Section 8(1)(c) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act for negotiation strategies." The board returned to open session at 9:46 p.m. and immediately adjourned.
