PRL staff told the Roseville Senior Commission on Aug. 13 that the city will participate in the Placer Connect senior resource fair on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maidu Community Center and requested commissioner volunteers to staff a booth.
Jeff Niersen said the fair will include more than 60 partners and vendors, senior seminars, a free legal clinic, a technology clinic and that the Salvation Army will provide lunches for the first 500 attendees. He said the city typically staffs a table alongside FAB programming and invited commissioners to sign up for two-person shifts to represent the commission and answer community questions.
Niersen also reported preliminary results from the PRL community survey: "We received over 2,300 responses. Out of those 2,300, 721 of those were from, 50 and over community, residents, which is about 30%." Staff said they will present a more detailed breakdown of survey feedback at the next commission meeting and use results to shape future programming and outreach.
Commissioners discussed materials for the resource-fair table, including a poster describing the senior commission and a short survey or comment card to capture community gaps and priorities. Staff said PRL will supply table materials, badges for commissioners working the booth and small giveaways; commissioners asked staff to circulate a draft flyer and poster for review before the event.
No formal action was taken; staff will follow up with commissioners by email about booth sign-ups and printed materials.
