Sparks honors Carpenters Local 971 and Moana Nursery for senior-center planter project and tree donations

Jesse Garibay, president of Local 971, thanked the city and said the union stands ready to support future community events.
“We love to volunteer. We love to support our community,” a Local 971 representative said, and Garibay added the union would make sure apprentices receive the recognition.
The council also presented a proclamation to Moana Nursery, which staff said donated 10 cubic yards of soil and mulch and 10 tomato plants to fill the planter beds. Deanna, the nursery owner, said the donation and the nursery’s annual donation of 300 trees demonstrate a commitment to the region. She said the nursery hopes the raised beds will provide fresh food and social opportunities for seniors.
Councilmembers thanked both organizations and noted community benefits from public–private partnerships on the planter project.
