Chris Blythe, assistant superintendent for operations, told the board on Aug. 11 that the district’s capital improvement plan includes building new gymnasiums at Bennett, Bonley and a third elementary/middle site referenced in the packet and that the county provided funding in the CIP.
Five firms responded to the district’s request for qualifications; a review panel shortlisted Corley Redfoot and ADW Hobbs and invited the two finalists for interviews. Blythe said the six-person panel, which included County Manager Brian Thompson, unanimously recommended Corley Redfoot Architects. The board approved a motion to proceed with contract negotiations with Corley Redfoot for architectural services for the three gymnasium projects.
Blythe said the projects will move into design and site planning phases after negotiations and that communities have waited for gym replacements for several decades in some locations.
Ending: The board authorized staff to negotiate a contract with Corley Redfoot to design the three gymnasiums as the next step in the CIP project.
