Teton County imposes stage 1 fire restrictions countywide, effective Aug. 12

Teton County on Monday adopted stage 1 partial fire restrictions to take effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, the Board of County Commissioners announced after a presentation from the county fire chief.
Fire Chief Mike Moyer told the board the restrictions, requested in coordination with state and federal partners, respond to “very high” fire danger and come after regular weekly meetings among local agencies. He said the Bridger-Teton National Forest would enter fire restrictions the following morning as well.
Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to adopt the restrictions “as presented,” and the measure passed unanimously. The county fire warden will retain authority to withdraw the restriction when conditions permit.
The order was presented as a countywide, partial restriction. Chief Moyer described the request as a coordinated step with other local agencies and noted the county’s ongoing monitoring of conditions.
The action is administrative and was adopted by motion; no additional funding or ordinance changes were made at Monday’s meeting. The board did not set a specific review date; the restrictions remain in place until the county fire warden withdraws them.
The board recorded the motion and a unanimous voice vote immediately after Chief Moyer’s presentation.
