San Patricio County Commissioners approved a recommendation from the county insurance consultant and insurance committee to reinstate a $670 per‑month cap on prescription drug coverage in the county employee health plan, effective Oct. 1, 2025.
A county representative presented the change on behalf of insurance consultant Rustenberger, who was not present at the meeting. The presenter said the county had previously included this cap in earlier formularies and seeks to restore it. The court voted to amend the county plan to add the cap; plan members who may be adversely affected will be grandfathered as long as they remain active plan members and continue to receive the same medication without a gap of more than 30 days between dispensers.
The court approved the change by voice vote; the motion carried unanimously.
