The recommendation came during a salary grievance hearing summarized to the court by committee members.
The grievance committee recommended bringing all listed constables to a single pay level of $66,000. Commissioners noted the previous spread in pay — roughly $62,648 for one position and $62,064 for others — and said the committee chose a uniform level to standardize compensation.
During discussion, a commissioner asked whether the constables listed work full time in the office; the court was told the committee met with the constables and that the committee’s view was they work full time. Commissioners praised recent constable activity reported during the grievance hearings and asked the county judge to request periodic performance updates from the constables so the court can track citations, warrants served and other measures of activity.
The court voted to approve the grievance committee recommendations by voice vote; the clerk recorded the motion as carried unanimously.
