The Grand Prairie City Council voted unanimously on a resolution reprimanding Councilmember Miguel “Mike” Del Bosque after citizens during the meeting’s public comment period alleged he assaulted a private citizen earlier this year.
The action came after a public speaker, David Colantes, described being “confronted, stalked, and attacked” in April 2025 while showing commercial property in Grand Prairie and urged the council to remove Del Bosque from boards and committees while the criminal case proceeds. “No citizen should be hunted down and hurt by someone sworn to serve their community,” Colantes said.
Dr. Angela Lucky Vaughn, another speaker on the item, told the council it should adopt a clear policy on censure and removal so reprimands are not applied inconsistently. “When any of our city council representatives act out of conduct, that it’s not pick and choose,” she said.
Councilmember Miguel “Mike” Del Bosque addressed the council and acknowledged his role in the episode, saying he had apologized to staff and had taken responsibility for his actions. “I take accountability for what I do. I’m not saying I’m right, but I am a man enough to do what needs to be done,” Del Bosque said, and asked the council to allow the legal process to run its course.
The item before the council was a resolution citing the city’s standards of conduct for officers and employees, set out in Article 4 of the City Code of Ordinances (Sections 2-63 and 2-65). City staff introduced the item as a matter for council consideration; after public comment the council moved, seconded, and voted to approve the reprimand.
The council’s vote approved the reprimand resolution but did not, during the meeting, vote to remove Del Bosque from boards or committees. Several public commenters urged broader action; council members who spoke during the item said they wanted to allow the criminal investigation and any prosecution to proceed before taking additional personnel or membership actions.
The council made no finding of criminal guilt in adopting the reprimand; the alleged assault is the subject of an active investigation and pending litigation, and the council’s action is a reprimand under the city code rather than a criminal determination. The resolution’s text, as introduced in the meeting packet, cites the city code’s ethics provisions and authorizes council discipline for conduct contrary to those standards.
The reprimand resolution passed without recorded dissent. The council did not specify additional sanctions at the meeting, and council members said they expect further developments as the Dallas County prosecutor’s office and law enforcement continue their investigations.
