The Abilene Planning and Zoning Commission recommended rezoning approximately 4.46 acres at 4051 Westlake Road from Planned Development District 42 to Agricultural Open (AO) to match the existing zoning on the east portion of the same property and to allow the owner to build a single-family home on the west 500 feet of Lot 411.
Planner Adam Holland said the site formerly accommodated commercial and industrial uses under the PD and that the east portion had recently received a CUP for an RV park; the owner requested the rezoning so the west portion could host a residence. Holland reported no written opposition or support in time for the packet and said staff found the request consistent with the comprehensive plan, surrounding uses and the Land Development Code; staff recommended approval.
No members of the public addressed the commission on the item. Commissioners moved to recommend approval by roll call; the motion carried unanimously in the recorded vote.
The rezoning recommendation will be forwarded to Abilene City Council for final action.
