At a Community Redevelopment Agency meeting, resident Dennis Conklin asked commissioners that, if Plantation General Hospital is demolished, any replacement residential structures on the hospital’s footprint be limited to no more than three stories.
"I would like to make a request of the commissioners, that they please when they demolish Plantation General Hospital to not allow, residential structures higher than 3 stories high in the footplate," Dennis Conklin said during the public-request portion of the meeting. Conklin did not specify a demolition schedule or who would lead redevelopment.
The commission approved its consent agenda of items 1 through 3 by a unanimous roll call before public requests began. Commissioners recorded voting “yes” were Commissioner Anderson, Commissioner Andreu, Commissioner Gunn, Commissioner Horland, Commissioner Reinstein and Commissioner Sordle; the motion passed and the meeting moved on to public requests.
No formal motion or ordinance addressing the Plantation General Hospital site, specific height limits, zoning changes or demolition timeline was introduced at the meeting, and the transcript includes no staff presentation or response to Conklin’s request.
