BSIS licensing unit reports timely processing after high application volumes

Andrea Daley, deputy chief over licensing, presented a licensing unit update showing heavy application volumes and on‑time processing across the bureau's licensing programs.
Daley said employee licensing processed just over 93,000 initial applications in the prior fiscal year, company licensing received just under 3,000 initial applications and the weapons unit received just over 15,000 initial applications for firearm and baton permits. She told the committee all three licensing units met their targeted processing timeframes.
Committee members asked questions about how private investigator and qualified manager counts would be reported going forward. Daley said the private investigator total currently reflects PI company licenses and that the qualified‑manager population would be reported separately once that category becomes its own license in the bureau’s reporting.
Daley invited committee input on topics members want in future licensing updates and noted a posted population chart showing license counts through June 30.
