Finance Committee approves annual treasurer’s report for fiscal year ending April 30, 2025

The Finance Committee voted to approve the city’s annual treasurer’s report for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2025, and directed that the report be published as required by state law.

The committee approved the report after a motion by Alderman Dimas and a second by Alderman Thompson. A roll-call vote recorded ayes from Alderman Dimas, Alderman Thompson, Alderman Petak, Alderman Reynolds, Alderman LaViere, Alderman Jepsen and Alderman Herndon; the motion carried.

The report, included in the meeting packet, breaks down the city’s income, revenue and expenditures by department and is the post‑fact accounting of the city’s fiscal year. During discussion the committee chair noted that "this is like a state legislation or state law that we have to, file a report at least 6 months after our fiscal year ends," and confirmed the committee must publish the report in the newspaper as part of the statutory requirement.

Committee members also approved the minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held Sept. 29, 2025. That motion was made by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson; the item was approved by voice vote.

A committee member raised a question about an unpaid invoice listed under street accounts: an entry described as "Echo electric damage from vehicle accident" for $52.69. Committee members said the city typically seeks reimbursement from the responsible party’s insurance and expects to recover that amount.

There were no amendments or further actions tied to the treasurer’s report at this meeting. The committee adjourned following the approvals.
