Longview Farm and Campbell Middle students, volunteers honored at Lee's Summit R-VII board meeting

Michael Orr, principal of Longview Farm Elementary School, introduced the school's "Run for Fun" club and thanked the district for installing a new track that keeps students off nearby streets during activities. "I've been doing run for fun for over 7 years now...this track starts at the playground right here, and it goes all the way around the soccer field," Mr. Garvin, the school's run-club leader and a third-grade teacher, told the board.
Longview Farm presented its Volunteer of the Year award to Jesse Resch. Principal Orr said Resch "brings energy and excitement and just a lift in our building culture every time she's there." The board took a photo with the students and volunteer after the presentation.
Bernard Campbell Middle School's yearbook staff also presented. Amy Yoder and Tara Layman, yearbook co-advisors, and students described a student-led yearbook process that included photography and design work by sixth through eighth graders. Student Lily Freeland said the yearbook "isn't just a collection of photos, it's a collection of memories." Student Harlow McKee described joining yearbook as helping her "find my place" at the school.
Campbell's presenters also recognized a community leadership team that supports a back-to-school bash; meeting remarks said the group raised about $33,000 in school supplies this year and coordinated supply distribution and services, including haircuts and clothing for families. The presenters named Sherry Henning and Adam Foster as representatives of that leadership team.
The school presentations were part of the meeting's regular agenda of school highlights and volunteer recognition. Board members praised the programs and thanked volunteers and community partners for their support.
