The Elkhart Community Schools Board of Trustees on Aug. 12 approved a package of contracts and policy updates and revised the 2025-26 school calendar so two additional synchronous learning days are available before the first student day on Aug. 14.
Board President Scott called for and the board approved consent items, nine final contracts and a set of preliminary contracts; the board also waived a second reading to allow immediate adoption of some materials. Doug Thorne, the district—s legal advisor, told the board that legislation enacted this year required many of the policy changes they were considering.
