Dearborn County orders two appraisals for Aurora property on Westside Drive

County staff said they had discussed obtaining appraisals from two appraisers (Jeff Thomas and Ken McIntosh were named in the discussion) and that an assessor had indicated the property’s assessed value would be $1,200 if not municipally owned because it is largely flood plain. Staff emphasized that assessed value and market value differ.
Commissioners voted to proceed with obtaining the two appraisals. The board also discussed how to proceed after appraisals are complete: staff offered to draft a proposed sale document with minimum price and conditions, and noted that the board may discuss sale conditions in an executive session if it prefers, though an executive session is not required.
No final sale price, minimum bid or conditions were adopted at the Sept. 2 meeting.
