The Springfield Economic Development Agency voted unanimously Sept. 8 to fill a vacant chair position, installing board member Rodley as chair, board member Blackwell as vice chair and board member Stout as secretary for the remainder of the unexpired term through the first regular meeting in January.
The action followed a motion from Board member Van Gordon and a second. Van Gordon opened discussion by saying, “I will put it in the form of a motion in a second, but I think it would be appropriate if, board member Rodley, filled that role, as chair and then board member Blackwell was vice chair. And then we, we, put, board member Stout as secretary for his minute taking ability.” The motion was seconded and put to a roll-call vote.
Under the board’s bylaws, the agency is required to elect a successor at the next regular meeting when a leadership position is vacant; board staff told members the vacancy must be filled at the meeting. The board recorded all members voting yes: Van Gordon, Weber, Moe, Vice Chair Rodley, Blackwell, Stout and Lovell. The motion passed and the new leadership team will serve through the first meeting in January, when the board elects annual leadership positions.
Board Chair-designate Rodley chaired part of the meeting prior to the vote as temporary chair; the new election formalized who will finish the unexpired term. No amendments or conditions to the motion were recorded.
