District adopts Rx and Go mail-order prescription partnership as a no-cost savings option for employees and the district
Summary
Administrators described a new Rx and Go program that would import maintenance prescriptions from Canada; at full participation staff estimated a $200,000 annual savings for the district and $100,000 for employees, with a 50% participation scenario estimated to yield $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.

Northern Lebanon School District administrators reported an August 1 effective date for a new prescription mail-order program with Rx and Go at the Aug. 5 meeting.
Benefits director Leanne told the board the program targets maintenance prescriptions and works with the district's Highmark insurance. Unlike a prior overseas program that required passports and had no participation, Rx and Go imports prescriptions from Canada and is easier for employees to access. Administration presented modeled savings: if 100% of eligible employees participated, the district would save about $200,000 and employees collectively would save about $100,000. A 50% participation rate was presented as a realistic target, which the district estimated would produce roughly $100,000 of district savings and $50,000 for employees.
Administration said the program has no additional administrative cost to the district and that an Rx and Go representative would attend an October opening-day event to assist employees in enrollment. The program applies to maintenance prescriptions taken regularly rather than one-time prescriptions.
Why it matters: The program could lower health-care spending for employees and reduce district health insurance costs if a meaningful portion of eligible staff enroll.
What comes next: Administration will promote the program, host an on-site Rx and Go representative in October and track enrollment and realized savings.
