District approves contracts for special-education placements and adds co-teaching to ATSI plan

Dr. Bastek Jones said the district has agreements with Capital Academy (a new placement being considered for one student), the Vista School (four enrolled students), and New Story (three students) for the coming year. Administrators explained these are standard annual contracts used when students require emotional-support or autistic-support placements outside the district.
The district also presented its ATSI (At-Risk/Tiered School Improvement) plan; administrators highlighted that the secondary school will expand co-teaching by scheduling special-education teachers to work alongside general-education teachers and providing training at the end of August. Staff said the plan is intended to provide more direct supports and integration for students with disabilities.
