Nussbaum Field senior services reports growing participation; organizers seeking nonprofit status

Organizers said roughly 162 people had registered for the Saturday event at the time of the meeting and that attendance at weekly classes had grown into the double digits.
Program organizers said they worked with the state Office of Healthy Aging, which has agreed to allow a small portion of a grant (about $20,700 referenced as a Healthy Aging grant) to pay for articles of incorporation, bylaws and 501(c)(3) tax‑exempt filings. Linda said she was meeting with pro‑bono legal help to complete the nonprofit paperwork.
Participants may drop into classes now; organizers are collecting sign‑in sheets and hope to move to an electronic sign‑in system (My Senior Center) once they have secured storage and administrative capacity. Organizers said they plan to collect membership fees and formalize procedures once nonprofit status is established.
