During the Aug. 20 meeting, Commissioner Duncan opened discussion of Kootenai County representation on the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) board for counties with populations over 150,000. Duncan said he had been serving since Barry McHugh stepped down and asked whether any other elected official wanted the role.
Leslie, identified in the meeting as an elected official who has served in the role, said she would continue if no one else wanted it. No formal nomination or vote took place; commissioners said they would discuss the matter outside the public meeting and gather more information about the role and term length. One commissioner asked about the term and suggested it might be two years; a participant who said he had previously served on the board encouraged the commissioners it was “kind of interesting” and potentially valuable.
The board moved to the next agenda item without making a formal appointment.
