Administrators reported approximately 96 incoming kindergartners participated in a readiness program and that elementary-level average daily attendance hovered around 390 students. The district said the high school summer program enrolled about 305 students and that the middle-school sixth-grade program had roughly 226 students for the targeted sessions.
Program changes highlighted included rotating "specials" (PE, music, art, computer) at the elementary level, a revamped sixth-grade scope and sequence with a field trip component, and high-school credit recovery and credit-enhancement offerings kept in-house through district Canvas courses.
Administrators noted ACT participation for summer offerings was lower than anticipated: 59 students registered and roughly 32 attended the actual test. They also said summer programming increases ADA, which can boost state revenue, but final revenue figures depend on state funding rates and post-summer reconciliations. A district administrator said final launch/contract billing from external providers remained pending and the net fiscal return would be calculated after invoices are received.
Board action: The board voted to approve the summer-school program evaluation by voice vote; the clerk recorded the result as 6-0.
Next steps: Administrators will standardize family communication about summer offerings and continue reviewing field-trip costs and scheduling to reduce late-summer drop-off in attendance.
