Council reviews code enforcement actions on South Broadway after vehicle and RV sales reported

Council discussed code enforcement activity at a South Broadway property where staff said travel trailers and recreational vehicles were being displayed for sale from a residential lot and an adjacent car lot.

The council heard from staff and the code officer that enforcement action was taken: notices were sent to the responsible party about four weeks earlier, some vehicles were temporarily stored and then removed to a warehouse in Fort Worth, but additional recreational vehicles later reappeared on the site. Staff said they issued subsequent notices and that the residential lot and an adjacent plot were cleared after a final notice from code enforcement. The property occupant was described as a renter, not the property owner, which staff said has complicated enforcement.

The code officer said one trailer displayed Oklahoma plates and staff had not received documentation verifying ownership. Staff also reported the removal of accessories ("jazz keys") from one trailer and that some cleanup has occurred. Council members asked whether owners had been contacted and whether there are remaining enforcement tools for ongoing problems; staff said they have used code enforcement processes and would follow up where the developer or owner retains responsibility.

Council asked staff to continue pursuing compliance and to provide additional updates; no new ordinance or formal action was taken at the meeting.
