Midvale RDA approves $250,000 zero‑interest loan for Salt Fire Brewing

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City voted unanimously on Aug. 5 to approve Resolution 2025‑06 RDA, authorizing a term sheet for a $250,000 business loan to Anvil Brewing Co., LLC d/b/a Salt Fire Brewing Co.

Aubrey, a Midvale RDA staff member presenting the item, described the loan as a seven‑year, 0%‑interest revolving loan. “The 0% interest, $250,000 for seven years is still what we're looking at here,” Aubrey said. She said the loan will be secured by collateral covering 100% of the loan amount, with the RDA taking first position on equipment and second position on the house (real property) identified in the term sheet.

Aubrey told the board the only change since the draft term sheet returned to the board was a clarification to the marketing‑spend provision: marketing costs will be limited to 5% of the total loan amount rather than 5% per year, to prevent disproportionate use of loan funds for advertising.

Ryan Miller, identified at the meeting as the owner of Salt Fire, was present in support of the loan; board members did not raise substantive objections during the discussion. The agency chair called for the motion; the mayor moved the resolution and a second was recorded. Chair Charlie called the roll: Board member Brown, Board member Nicholas, Board member Glover and Board member Robinson each voted yes when asked, and the chair noted the resolution passed unanimously.

The board also approved the consent agenda (minutes of July 15, 2025) by unanimous vote earlier in the meeting.

Board members and staff indicated support for the brewery's planned grand opening, which Miller said is scheduled for Nov. 7.
