Uintah County Commission approves routine warrants, road agreements and code update

Vernal — The Uintah County Commission met at 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, and approved a set of routine administrative items and intergovernmental agreements, including warrants, a revision to the county’s land-use amendment application process, a five-year cooperative road maintenance agreement with the U.S. Forest Service and an update to county code on obstructing traffic. Commissioner Willis LaFever was excused.

The approvals came by voice vote on motions from commissioners and staff during a roughly 17-minute public meeting. County finance staff presented warrants of $668,556.78; county staff said the majority of the amount reflected medical premiums. Caitlin, who presented the warrants, said, “the majority of this was medical premiums, so dental, vision, health.” The commission approved the warrants as presented.

Why it matters: The resolution amending the community development administrative manual adds an initial review step for private-initiated land use ordinance amendment applications, requiring both the planning commission chair and the county commission chair to sign off before an application is scheduled for a public hearing.
