Dominic Mazock urged the city to consider installing solar canopies over large surface parking facilities and terminal roofs (including airport facilities) and suggested the city explore selling air-rights or partnering with private operators to install photovoltaic arrays. Council members and staff acknowledged prior private-sector projects and said the idea could be explored further; Council Member Willie Davis and Council Member Abby Kaven noted examples such as the VA hospital parking canopy and asked staff to check plans for surface lots and new construction.
