TMRPA finds Silver Lake Tomoya gas regulator and main conform with regional plan; adopts amendment to map of regional utility sites

The Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency unanimously approved a regional‑conformance finding and a regional plan amendment for the Silver Lake Tomoya Gas Capacity Improvements project on July 7.

Team RPA planner Chris Tully presented the proposal and told commissioners the gas regulator station and main would be primarily sited on the Sierra Sage Golf Course parcel (APN 55401001). Tully said the project is a Project of Regional Significance because the regulator station would operate above 100 pounds per square inch (PSI). He said the line would run approximately 4,700 feet south toward Silver Lake Road and that the regulator station must be reflected on Map 3 of the 2024 Truckee Meadows Regional Plan as a regional utility site.

Tully summarized the RC‑9 review factors: no change in residential density or housing capacity, improved utility capacity and reliability for North Valleys customers, minimal natural‑resource impacts expected because most construction would occur within the existing golf course parcel, and standard regional coordination with jurisdictional staff. Regional planning staff recommended that commissioners find the PRS in conformance with the regional plan and adopt the amendment to Map 3.
