FSBA reports 16 applicants for Manatee County superintendent; board to select semifinalists July 29

Jensen and FSBA representatives described the process: board members will fill out a tally sheet indicating candidate numbers to advance (there is no limit on how many names a member may mark), FSBA will tally preferences and recommend semifinalists or finalists for the Aug. 12 board meeting. Background checks will be completed before finalists are invited to interview.
Scheduling and community engagement: Jensen said community input on the search is open online and that FSBA would provide the compiled responses to each board member. A televised panel interview of candidates will be available for the community, and a “meet and greet” is planned at Manatee Technical College for public viewing of candidate presentations.
Board logistics: The board agreed to meet Aug. 12 at 9 a.m. if that remains feasible for member calendars. Jensen and FSBA emphasized the practicalities of specifying how many semifinalists or finalists to advance after the July 29 tally and of coordinating background checks and candidate tours before formal interviews.
Ending: The board, FSBA and staff will proceed with the schedule — tally on July 29, background checks and selection of finalists for interviews around Aug. 12 — and staff will continue to provide material and logistics support to let trustees review candidate materials and public input.
