Craven County Board of Education votes to add CTE report to Thursday agenda, to include disciplinary data on today's agenda

The Craven County Board of Education on Oct. 14 approved two agenda amendments: one to place Career and Technical Education reporting on the Thursday meeting agenda and another to add disciplinary data to the work session's agenda for discussion.

Board members debated whether the CTE presentation should wait for a presenter attending Thursday, then voted to place the CTE material on that meeting's agenda. The board then voted to add disciplinary data to the current meeting’s agenda for later discussion.

During discussion before the votes, board members questioned whether the CTE report could be discussed without the presenter in the room and whether it should be deferred until the presenter was available. Board members also referred to board policy 23-30 (as cited in the meeting) regarding placement of items on the agenda by timely request.

The motions did not adopt policy or direct specific actions beyond placing materials on agendas. The items will return for discussion or vote at the stated meetings, where the board may take further formal action.
