County authorizes staff to prepare cleanup of dilapidated Jacktown Road property if owners do not comply

Wootton explained that the abandoned mobile home ordinance (in effect since about 2007) is typically complaint‑driven and noted a prior high‑profile cleanup where the county cleared a dangerous park and placed a lien on the property after the owner failed to pay cleanup costs.
Wootton said property owners had been served certified letters and had until Sept. 30 to correct violations; he described the county’s next step as soliciting quotes for heavy‑equipment contractors to clear the property and place cleanup costs as a lien on the property if the owners do not act. A motion authorizing staff to proceed with abatement if there is no response by the deadline was moved and approved by voice vote.
Ending: If owners fail to comply by Sept. 30, staff will solicit cleanup bids, execute abatement work, place liens for costs, and report results to the board; staff said outreach to contractors is already underway to be prepared to act.
