The City of Milwaukee Community and Economic Development Committee confirmed two nominations to the Milwaukee Youth Council and agreed to forward a third nominee for confirmation at full Common Council.
Jim Lazarski, the city clerk, described the first nominee, saying the student “is a very, very enthusiastic member, and I am glad to recommend him to you today,” referring to Mateo de la Cruz, a student in the Milwaukee Public Schools system and a member of the MPS superintendent’s advisory council who attends Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School.
Lazarski also presented Corry Caldwell’s nomination for the 10th Aldermanic District; the committee recorded the nomination of Corey Cadwell (transcript: “Corey Cadwell”) for the 10th District. Both nominations were confirmed by unanimous consent on the committee record after a motion to confirm was offered and there was “hearing no objection.”
An alderman asked to add a third nominee, Adeline Elise Chavez, to represent the 11th Aldermanic District. The committee agreed to add her nomination to the file and to offer that nomination for confirmation on the 23rd (referred to in the record as the committee’s next full council appearance).
The committee did not take a roll-call vote in the transcript; confirmations were approved by unanimous consent as recorded on the committee record.
The committee chair closed the item after confirmation and moved on to other appointments and agenda items.
