Greeley School Board sets event calendar, schedules school visits and outlines superintendent evaluation timeline

Board members were asked to notify district staff if they plan to attend community events including the Dream Team Community of Champions breakfast, the Prairie Heights 10-year celebration on Sept. 23 and a Great Education Colorado luncheon. Director Campos Spitzi and other directors highlighted partnerships with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and the Success Foundation’s Play It Forward program.
Superintendent Dr. Pilch reminded directors to submit evaluation materials tied to the district strategic plan. President Masch asked directors to provide inputs and said he would compile comments; he asked that submissions arrive “by the end of the week,” so the board can conduct an executive session to review the evaluation and then place the evaluation before the board for a vote at the next regular meeting. The board said it will hold the scheduled executive session at the board meeting on the 22nd to discuss evaluations.
The board also discussed scheduling school-site visits and asked staff to have visits in place by the next meeting; Miss Lemon shared an events spreadsheet of school and community engagements for directors to use. Several directors commented on recent school sporting events and community recognition: Prairie Heights’ 10th anniversary, BizWest women of distinction honors for former board member Terry Pappas, and recognition for Dina Lemos Garcia.
The work session included a note that Colorado Department of Education staff will interview a panel at Greeley Central High School the following day as part of a teacher-award process for semifinalist Steven Paulson. Board members encouraged community support for the school during the interview.
