Aurora East USD 131 committee readies FY26 budget for public hearing; July financials reviewed

The Aurora East USD 131 Finance and Personnel Committee reviewed July 2025 financial reports and agreed to place Fiscal Year 2026 budget documents on the full board agenda for a public hearing and action on Sept. 15, 2025.

Committee members were presented with the district's July 2025 revenue report, expenditure report, fund balance statements and payroll reports. A staff member said the materials were consolidated to make it easy for Miss Morales to place them on the Sept. 15 agenda. "That will be dropping down for action at our next board meeting on the fifteenth," the staff member said. The staff member also reported that the budget has been posted on the district website, placed on public display and that a legal notice was published in the newspaper. "Nothing has changed," the staff member added about the documents now on display.

The committee did not take a formal vote at the meeting. Committee members confirmed that the documents presented are those that will be considered at the Sept. 15 public hearing and subsequent action by the full board. The materials have been presented to the committee multiple times during the budget process, according to the presenter.

Donations and in-kind contributions were also listed as informational items at the start of the meeting: seven backpacks and school supplies from the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry for Dietrich Elementary School; 28 backpacks via the district's student‑tracker program from the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry; 250 Chick‑fil‑A cookie rewards from Chick‑fil‑A Oswego for Bardwell Elementary School; paint, furniture and general supplies from Calvary Church for Oak Park Elementary School; and school supplies from Old National Bank for Oak Park Elementary School.

Next steps: the budget documents will be on the Sept. 15 full board agenda for a public hearing and action. The committee did not amend the documents during the Sept. 2 meeting.
