County proposes 33.02 miles of resurfacing in FY 2026; requests LMIG application and budget amendments

Staff said the county’s FY 2026 LMIG funding allocation is $857,866.18. The proposed resurfacing program would resurface 33.02 miles and patch 5.57 miles for an estimated total program cost of $9,872,515.35. Staff said the FY 2026 LMIG budget in the county plan was $750,000 and that the grant amount exceeds that budget by approximately $107,866.18; to spend the grant funds, a revenue‑neutral budget amendment of that amount is needed. Staff also requested a reallocation of FY 2024 funds into FY 2026 totaling $1,014,649.17 to support the program.
Public Works recommended approving the FY 2026 resurfacing program, authorizing submittal of the LMIG application to GDOT and approving budget amendments up to the contract amounts for the life of the project. Commissioners asked about the status of the 2025 resurfacing program and were told 2025 resurfacing is complete and paving can start as soon as contractors schedule the work.
