Village of Clemmons breaks ground on Village Point operations center; fall events calendar announced

Council members celebrated a groundbreaking for the Village Point Operations Center during council comments on Aug. 25, 2025. The mayor said the facility "will house our sheriff's office and a couple offices for staff members doing events in that area, and it will have 4 public bathrooms on the Bottom Floor accessible during the hours the greenway is open." A council member added the site will create a 24-hour presence for deputies in the greenway area.
Staff provided a marketing and events update. Marketing and Communications Specialist Maddie McMurian told the council the farmer's market will pause for the Labor Day weekend and the regular market season will end Sept. 27 with the annual Harvest Fest. McMurian reported results from a recent donation station: "the monthly donation station collected a 118 pounds of produce, 1 pound of pork, 3 pounds of eggs, and 6 pounds of honey, valuing to $312, which served 58 households and 214 individuals." She also listed upcoming events: the Dirty Dozen 5K and Oktoberfest (Sept. 13 at the Jerry Long Family YMCA), a fall medicine drop (Sept. 20 at Public Works), vendor registration for the Monster Dash and Goblin Hop (Oct. 19), Bike MS Tour de Tanglewood participation (September date provided in packet), Fleet Feet Mission 5K (Oct. 4) and the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness (Oct. 25).
Council members praised staff hires and outreach; the mayor said the operations center marks progress toward the long-term town-center vision for Village Point. No formal action was taken on the groundbreaking or events items during the meeting.
