At a special meeting on May 17, 2018, Town of Lakeville voters approved a zoning-map amendment to reclassify a parcel at 9 Harding Street (assessor’s map 022-002-014) from residential to business. The moderator said the change is in accordance with section 3.2.1 of the town zoning bylaws.
A member of the planning board who spoke at the meeting said residents had identified the parcel as landlocked in a residential district but surrounded by business and industrial uses, including property across Harding Street and near Millennium Circle industrial park. The planning board member said the board voted unanimously to recommend the rezoning and that the parcel could be better used as business property and bring in additional revenue to the town.
The finance committee also recommended approval. The moderator reminded voters this article required a two-thirds vote because it amends the zoning map, then took a card vote and declared the article unanimously approved.
The warrant and motion described the parcel as approximately 9.697 acres and identified the assessor map and parcel number as 022-002-014; the warrant recommends consultees refer to the zoning map materials provided at the meeting for the exact map depiction. No municipal guarantees, specific development proposals, or new business permits were presented as part of this article; the vote authorized only the zoning classification change recorded in the town’s zoning map.
