Milford council certifies primary returns; turnout reported near 49%

Monica Siders, Milford's city clerk, presented the certified municipal primary election returns to the Milford City Council on Aug. 19. The city contracts election administration to the Beaver County Clerk's Office; Siders thanked Tracy McMullen and county staff for administering the municipal election.
Siders reported 646 registered voters and said 317 ballots were cast, which she presented as a 49.07% turnout for the primary. She then read candidate vote totals listed on the summary: Ian Spalding 237 votes; Tayson Willis 143; Renee Nelkes 103; Terry Wiseman 72; Brady Larson 36; and James S. Mohar 16. Siders said the council, as the city's board of canvassers, must certify the returns so the top four vote-getters move on to the Nov. 4 general municipal election.
A motion to approve and sign the canvass was made, seconded and approved by the council. The clerk then completed the required paperwork and the council certified the primary returns.
