Board hears summary of "Moving Forward" partnership with Estrella Mountain Community College; item tabled for fuller review

At a meeting of the Agua Fria Union High School District governing board, staff summarized a partnership with Estrella Mountain Community College to host the district's "Moving Forward" program for students who have completed graduation requirements but who return to campus for additional job-skill development.
A district presenter said the program will use a room on Estrella Mountain Community College's campus and will combine lab time, classroom instruction and work-based learning placements with local partners such as the Goodyear Recreation Center. Staff said the district worked with the college on transportation, staffing and calendar alignment and that families have expressed enthusiasm for the central location and program model.
A board member asked for more detail and moved to pull consent item 8.16 (the formal agreement) for further review; the item was tabled to a later September meeting so the board can review qualifications and overall objectives before voting. Staff named district employees who worked on the project and college staff contacts involved in finalizing details.
The board did not vote to approve the agreement at the meeting; staff said they will bring back summary materials and final details in September.
