The board’s general policies committee reviewed nine policy updates at the Aug. 11 meeting, including a new artificial‑intelligence (AI) policy.
Vice President Leonard asked directors to review the policies in the packet. The superintendent said the AI policy was developed using model language from PSBA and with input from administrators and the assistant superintendent’s office; administrators and legal counsel reviewed samples from other districts and the policy was tailored for local use. The superintendent told directors the policy is expected to evolve and may return for quarterly or periodic updates as AI technology and educational tools change.
Directors asked clarifying questions about specific policies, including references to positions named in the organizations policy (tax collector and treasurer) and updates to the defibrillator/CPR policy. Administration said it will consult with the solicitor on precise wording for roles that are handled by city offices in practice and will revise attachments where necessary before the item moves to the consent docket.
The committee did not take a final vote in committee; policies are scheduled to return to the board under the normal adoption process.
