The York City School District’s athletics office reported on the district’s fall sports readiness at the committee meeting on Aug. 11.
Dr. Fitch told board members that the district completed its heat‑acclimation week and had followed up to ensure all student‑athletes completed required fall physicals. “We have completed all of our sports physicals, and everything is in order,” Dr. Fitch said. He said district staff — naming Mr. Bernhardt and athletic director Mr. White — visited all four fall sports teams to ensure coaches had required clearances.
Dr. Fitch said the district’s back field has been updated and “the field now looks lovely,” but noted some concrete work remains along the field’s sides. During the meeting, a director mentioned the recent death of Chad Sterner and said the athletics office and AD White would discuss possible steps to honor him; the committee did not adopt a formal tribute at the meeting.
The athletics report closed with no formal action requested; directors asked no further questions.
