Shawnee council approves ADA transition plan, OKs $2.19M for vehicles and holds CDBG hearing

The Shawnee City Council on Monday approved the Parks and Recreation Department's 2023 Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan and authorized a package of city vehicle purchases while holding a public hearing on the preliminary 2026 Community Development Block Grant action plan.
Communications Director Doug Donahue opened the meeting and told listeners the council had conducted a public hearing on the preliminary 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) action plan, which the city said could fund a potential stormwater project and social services benefiting low- and moderate-income residents. "The city estimates the annual award at just more than $278,000," Donahue said.
The council voted 7-0 to approve the Parks and Recreation Department's 2023 ADA transition plan.
