Public Works Director Josh Russell said the town previously replaced a large number of carts and that since swapping to a different manufacturer in 2023 the replacement rate has dropped substantially (from more than 200 over three years to nine replacements since the swap). The proposed purchase is intended to replenish the town's cart stock and continue the lower replacement trend.
Alderman Marshall asked about color choices for carts and staff said changing colors townwide would be expensive because the town has roughly 18,000 carts in service. The board approved the purchase unanimously.
