The Collierville Board approved purchase of a new Caterpillar 926 (model cited in packet) wheel loader from Thompson Machinery under Tennessee statewide contract SWC2525 and authorized modification of an existing grapple bucket.
Public Works Director Josh Russell said the town will trade in a 2006 Case 521D wheel loader for $22,000; with a $5,555.56 modification to fit the existing grapple to the new machine, the net purchase price of $180,487.45 is under the budgeted $195,000. Russell said the trade-in offer was preferable to attempting to sell the old unit on the open market.
The motion as read by staff authorized the trade-in of unit #255 (2006 Case 521D) for $22,000, purchase of a new Cat loader from Thompson Machinery for $174,931.89 and Thompson Machinery performing grapple modifications for $5,555.56 under SWC2525. The board approved the purchase unanimously.
Votes: Motion to approve purchase and modifications under SWC2525 — Ayes: Jordan, Marshall, Stamps, Robbins, Hall, Mayor Frazier.
Why it matters: The purchase refreshes fleet equipment used at the town's mulch/brush operations and is within the approved capital budget.
What remains: Finance/Procurement will complete purchase orders and schedule delivery and grapple modification work with Thompson Machinery.
