Collierville awards $1.37 million resurfacing contract for three road segments

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a construction contract with Standard Construction Company for the Town's Resurfacing of Various Streets Phase 2 project.
Deputy Town Engineer Tim Gualtney told the board the project covers three segments: Houston Levee (Winchester to south of the railroad), Progress Road (Keogh Road to Shelby Drive) and Shelton Road (Yorktown to Carver/Arlington), including minor widening near 348 Shelton and the MLGW substation frontage. The scope includes mill and overlay of about eight lane miles, localized base repairs, curb, gutter and sidewalk replacement, ADA upgrades and new striping and signage.
The procurement team received two qualified bids; Standard Construction provided the low responsive bid at $1,373,097.91. The contract is a unit-price agreement with 270 calendar days to complete work. Gualtney said the project was submitted for funding through the Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization and the town entered a TDOT local programs contract in September 2020; the town will be reimbursed 80% of eligible expenditures.
Aldermen asked whether resurfacing on Houston Levee would reach the railroad crossing; staff said work would stop shy of the tracks and railroad crossings and that crossings and ties are typically the railroad's responsibility to tie into town pavement. The board approved the contract unanimously.
