Nevada regulators approve Boomer’s Sportsbook license; CEO Joe Asher says outlets to open Aug. 1

The Nevada Gaming Commission on July 24 approved Brandywine Gaming LLC’s application to operate Boomer’s Sportsbook, a nonrestricted race and sports wagering business that will be centered at a commercial casino in Elko and include satellite sportsbooks at Ellis Island in Las Vegas and Casino Valle Verde in Henderson.
Brandywine President and CEO Joe Asher told the commission he intends to open the Elko sportsbook Friday, Aug. 1, and “a few days later at Ellis Island and Valley Verde.” He described Boomer’s as a “race and sports wagering business” that will not operate as a casino operator and said it will use IGT’s PlaySports platform with a customized app.
