Commission grants extension for Hickory Creek storage final plat to Aug. 13

DENTON, Texas — The Denton Planning and Zoning Commission on July 23 agreed to extend consideration of a final plat for a proposed luxury storage condominium on Hickory Creek Road to Aug. 13 after staff said the plat did not meet approval criteria in its current form.
Assistant planner Matt Bodine told commissioners the final plat covers a lot proposed for a luxury storage condominium development located on the south side of Hickory Creek Road near Teasley Lane. Staff said the plat does not meet the city’s approval criteria at present; however, because this was the project’s second extension request, staff indicated no objection to a date‑certain extension to Aug. 13, 2025 to allow the applicant time to address outstanding issues.
Commissioner Riggs moved to extend the final‑plat consideration to Aug. 13; Commissioner McDuff seconded. The motion passed 4‑0.
Why it matters: Granting a date‑certain extension preserves the applicant’s place in the review cycle while allowing staff and the applicant to resolve outstanding technical or submittal issues. If unresolved, the applicant must return on the new date to seek approval or another extension.
What’s next: The applicant must address staff comments and resubmit materials in advance of the Aug. 13 public hearing; staff will then evaluate the revised plat against the Denton Development Code’s final‑plat standards.
