Zoning board OKs St. Anne’s parish festival with noise, signage conditions

The Warren City Zoning Board of Appeals on July 23 approved Saint Anne’s Catholic Church’s request to hold its annual parish festival on Sept. 19–21, 2025, with conditions related to music and temporary signage.
Father Derek Peterman, who introduced himself as the new pastor, and Ken Mate, who spoke as a representative, told the board the festival hours would be Friday 5 p.m.–11 p.m., Saturday noon–11 p.m., and Sunday noon–10 p.m. Board members noted a longstanding condition for similar events that music stop one hour before the stated closing time; the applicants accepted that condition. A board member also asked that temporary signs for the event be removed within the city’s allowable time frame; the applicants agreed to alert volunteers to remove signage promptly.
Mr. Jersey moved to approve the festival permit, Mr. Sasser supported the motion, and the board voted to grant the request "for the reasons stated in the motion," including that the event is not a detriment to the area when operated under the stated conditions.
The board’s approval was recorded with the condition that music end one hour before closing each day and that event signage be removed within the time allowed by ordinance.
