Zoning board approves sunroom at 4436 Buchanan with variance

The Warren City Zoning Board of Appeals on July 23 approved a variance allowing homeowner Jeffrey St. Andre to build a 12-by-16-foot (192-square-foot) sunroom at 4436 Buchanan Avenue.
The board voted to permit the sunroom in addition to an existing 19-by-30-foot (570-square-foot) detached garage, for a total of 762 square feet of accessory structure floor area. Petitioner Jeffrey St. Andre told the board the sunroom would replace a previously destroyed 16-by-14-foot deck and is slightly smaller than the former deck.
Board members asked whether the new room would be visible from neighboring properties; St. Andre said it would sit in the backyard and not be visible from the street. After a brief discussion, Mr. Jersey moved to approve the variance, Mr. Cliff supported the motion and the board voted in favor.
Motion and vote records show the approval carried with the board members present voting "yes for the reason stated in the motion." The board cited the size and placement of the addition and found it not to be a detriment to the area.
The petitioner thanked the board following the vote. No additional conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
