Union representative urges trustees to ratify agreement; consent calendar ratification passes

Brian Lee, executive director of the Nevada State Education Association (NSEA), urged trustees to ratify consent calendar item G, the agreement with district administrators represented by the Lyon County Administrative Association (LCAA). "We were able to reach a fair and equitable deal with fair terms," Lee said, noting a working group will study long‑standing salary and benefit structure issues over the next two years.
Lee said the union and district will work together during the next legislative session to seek funding to support salary-structure changes. He also thanked Superintendent Tim Logan and district negotiators for their cooperation.
The board voted earlier in the meeting to approve the consent agenda (items a–d and f–p) with item e pulled for separate discussion. The consent vote carried unanimously, which included the ratification Lee urged. Blake Cooper, a member of the LCAA bargaining team and principal at Burnley Intermediate School, spoke in support during public comment as well.
The ratification directs staff to implement the agreement terms for the represented employees; the board did not publicly read the full contract in the meeting minutes. Trustees and union representatives said they will continue negotiating changes to salary structure and pursue state funding in the upcoming legislative session.
Next steps: district administration to implement ratified contract terms and convene the working group to examine salary and benefit structure and proposals for legislative funding.
